Below are sites discussed during a recent Periscope by Jen Jones for reading. Several great sites worth taking a look at to add to your classroom. Watch the entire Periscope below as well.
Below are two stamina timers that can be projected during literacy stations. Simply click the link and press play and you are ready to go.

I needed a way for students to be able to practice Fry's Phrases when they weren't at the teacher table with me. I created a powerpoint of the fry's phrases, then recorded my voice modeling how to read the phrases. During stations if a student needed additional support in this area I could have them watch the video for practice. I give the students 3 seconds to say the phrase before you hear me modeling how it is to be read. It proved to be very beneficial to increasing fluency skills. Use these videos to help students who need additional support with foundational reading skills. Each video gives the student 3 seconds to attempt to say the word, then it will read it for them. Get creative and have students create their own sight word videos for practice as well! These practice videos were created to reinforce the skills students are taught from 95% group. These are designed for students to practice multi-syllable words following the same pattern. One great way to work on fluency phrasing and expression is to record students saying lines out of popular children's books. Especially with younger students, you know that after you've read a book many times over and over, they can not only say the sentence or phrase back to you, but also with expression. The three videos below: I'm Bored, Russell the Sheep, and Pinkalicious were created by kids ages 4 and 5. In other words, their reading level is not high. I simply modeled how to read the line, then they repeated it back to me when I hit record. With older students consider having them create their own Book Trailers to excite students into checking out that book at the library.
This project was completed by a Kindergarden class and a 4th grade class. The 4th graders wrote the story about the Pigeon, then helped model how the lines were to be read. Then, they helped the KDG students record the voices. It came out fabulous! It will definitely make you smile! :) This post is first in a series of ideas on how to use technology to help with fluency skills. When introducing students to phrasing and expression consider what they love.. movies, which are designed to entertain them at their age level. Print out lines from famous movies and have students practice reading them with expression. Do not tell them what movie they come from, just random lines. Then play the clips below which are the behind the scenes in the recording studio when the actors recorded their lines. They will LOVE this.. Being able to see the expression and phrasing modeled for them by the characters they have grown to love is perfect for an engaged lesson. Download the fluency bookmarks below to practice with your class. ~Nadine :)
