-Article on examples of Storybird in an 8th grade and 1st grade classroom
- Storybird in the Classroom - Storybird would be a fantastic tool for assessment as it gives students an opportunity to incorporate their knowledge of literacy skills. - Stories can be created in groups, with each group member contributing per page. - Students can read the stories of others and complete book reports/ shares. - Students could create a play based on the images they have selected and act out their story instead of typing text. - Original artwork can be scanned and used to create stories. Students can then create a story behind what inspired them to produce this artwork. - Use it to document a particular event in the classroom, documentary-style by having students engage in various roles of the production process of story-telling. ![]()

The strength of Little Bird Tales is the ability for children to tell stories that can be:
- autobiographical (my life, my community, school, family) - biographical (U.S. presidents, world history figures) OR - Related to other aspects of the early grades social studies curriculum such as the environment, economics, civic ideals, or global communities. Little Bird Tales works well because it captures the imagination, creativity, and voice of the child in a free and easy to use platform. TEACHERS: Use this template with your class to map out their story. ![]()

This Web 2.0 teaching tool is a great way to introduce the youngest students just learning to read and write to digital storytelling. Early literacy skills can be developed as children see their ideas emerge as sentences related to the onscreen images they create. Students learn about the different elements of a story as they select characters, setting and decide what is going to happen. Sequencing skills are practiced as children decide what comes next in the their story, and then what happens after that. |
